PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for retrieving a drawing by providing field block memory area group which is divided into plural groups corresponding with the group of graphics of which sizes are uniform. CONSTITUTION:The shape of an inputted graphic, information on the arrangement of the graphics and information on the layer of the graphics in course of processing are inputted by a table 32 and a keyboard 31. This graphic information is transmitted to graphic storing memory selecting part 34 and the field block memory group which stores the graphic is decide by this graphic information based on the layer which the proper graphic belongs to. When a graphic existing in some window on the specified drawing is extracted from the tablet 32, the information on the window is transmitted to a drawing editing part 35 and the proper graphic group is extracted by reading the content of a large size graphic field block memory area 36 and a field block memory area 37 with the aid of the graphic editing part 35.
