NEW MATERIAL:A glycoprotein subunit having about 46kd molecular weight, existing in a plalet, inhibiting activity of transforming growth factor (TGF-beta) by reversibly combining associated >=4 associated molecules with the TGF-beta, stable to heat and an acid, losing the TGF-beta inhibiting activity when treated with dithiothreitol or trypsin. USE:An anticancer agent, remedy for wound and hepatitis, high sensitive measuring reagent of the TGF-beta. PREPARATION:For example, a plalet is separated from whole blood by centrifugation and thrombin, etc., and a thrombin, etc., is added to the plalet to secrete a latent TGF-beta from the plalet and the latent TGF-beta is treated in water heated at 100 deg.C for 5hr to dissociate a associated glycoprotein, which is then applied to a high performance anion exchange chromatography and gel permeation chromatography in turn in order to purify the glycoprotein to provide the glycoprotein subunit.
