PURPOSE:To permit satisfactory development of negative and positive type PS plates with one kind of developing soln. by using the developing soln. contg. an alkali agent, water soluble reducing agent, organic carboxylic acid or the salt thereof and nonionic or cationic surfactant and specifying the pH range thereof. CONSTITUTION:The developing soln. which contains the alkali agent, the water reducible reducing agent, the org. carboxylic acid or the salt thereof and the nonionic or cationic surfactant and has the pH ranging 11.5-13.5 is used for the water-based alkaline developing soln. which commonly processes the negative and positive type photosensitive planographic printing plates (PS plates). The developability, printing performance and developing speed in the case of developing the negative type PS plate and positive type PS plate with one developing soln. (for example, in the case of nondiscriminately developing the negative and positive type PS plates with the same developing soln. by using an automatic developing machine) are thereby improved. In addition, the workability is excellent as there is substantially no bubbling. |
