PURPOSE:To produce an air permeable member having excellent wear resistance by caking and molding base material powder essentially consisting of metal powder with an epoxy resin, coating a liquid compsn. contg. the epoxy resin, hardener and surfactant thereon and curing the coating. CONSTITUTION:The base material powder contg. about >=50vol.% metal powder such as iron and nickel, consisting the balance of other powders of silica, alumina, glass, etc., and having about <=100mum average grain size is caked and molded with the epoxy resin. The liquid compsn. contg. the epoxy resin, hardener and org. solvent soluble surfactant is coated on the surface of said powder in the precuring stage of the above-mentioned epoxy resin or after the post curing treatment thereof and is subjected to a curing treatment. The above- mentioned surfactant has preferably about >=3wt.% solubility and dispersibility in toluene and is adequately compounded at 0.01-3.0% ratio with the above- mentioned liquid epoxy resin. The air permeable member having good air permeability and excellent wear resistance is obtd. by the above-mentioned treatment without closing the air permeating pores.
