New perylene carboximide derivs. - useful as fluorescent dyes

(A) Perylene dyes of formula (I) are new: (a) X = Y = NR1; R1 = CH(R)2, 3-50C cycloalkyl (opt. 1-substd. by R) or C(R)3; R = 1-10C alkyl; (b) X = 2,5-di-t-butylphenylimino (X1); Y = O or NR2; R2 = R1, 1-20C alkyl, 2-hydroxyethyl or 2-methacryloylethyl. (B) Mixts. of perylene dyes of formula (I:X=Y=NR3) are also new, where R3 are various aliphatic and/or alkylated aromatic gps. USE - (I) are fluorescent dyes useful in dye lasers; as fluorescent labels for analytical assays; as general tracers; in scintillation counters, fluorescence solar collectors, fluorescence-activated displays, coloured liq. crystal displays and cold light sources; and as material defect detectors, photographic or electrographic materials, phosphors, semiconductors and marking materials.
