A fresh-water container (1) for a coffee or tea machine is equipped with a water-level indicator designated as a whole by the reference numeral (2). This water-level indicator (2) comprises a viewing pipe (3) made of transparent material, a float (4) which is preferably constructed as a float ball, and also a connecting piece (5) which connects the interior (6) of the fresh-water container (1) to the viewing pipe (3) according to the principle of communicating tubes. This connecting piece (5) is produced integrally from a soft plastic, preferably from soft polyethylene, together with a stop web (7) for securing the lowermost position of the float (4). A plate cover (9) is integrally moulded furthermore on the outside of the leg (8), connected to the viewing pipe (3), of the connecting part (5) designed as a pipe bend, said plate cover at the same time covering the mounting region of the pipe bend. <IMAGE>
