Process for the preparation of (E)-1-cyclohexyl-4,4-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pent-1- ene

(E)-1-cyclohexyl-4,4-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pent -1-ene, which has the formula <IMAGE> and is known, is prepared by a novel process by reacting (E)-1-cyclohexyl-4,4-dimethyl-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pent-1-en-3-one, of the formula <IMAGE> with chloroaluminium di-isopropylate or with a mixture of aluminium chloride and aluminium tri-isopropylate in the presence of a diluent and hydrolysing the product in an aqueous acidic medium.
