A retaining device for a body which can pivot about a predetermined point comprises at least two concentrically arranged and telescopically interengaging guide parts (12, 18, 26) which are curved in the form of part-spheres, of which one can be connected to the body and of which at least one is configured in an annular form, the guide part (18, 26) receiving the respectively other guide part (12, 18) being composed of two part-sphere portions (20, 22; 28, 30) which are arranged concentrically with respect to one another at a distance corresponding to the radial thickness of the guide part (12, 18) received, and the edge diameters of the guide parts (12, 18, 26) being dimensioned such that two interengaging guide parts (12, 18; 18, 26) always overlap in the region of their mutually facing edges. <IMAGE>
