Process for dewatering sludges

The novel process is intended to make it possible to dewater sludges of all types in a simple and expedient manner. The problem is solved by the water contained in the sludges being brought into contact with an absorbent, belt-like support material and the water-saturated support material being fed to a drying process. The process is applicable to sludges of all types, in particular sewage sludge, but also effluent sludges of dairies, mines, and other industrial sludges.
