PURPOSE:To prevent the squeak of a gear by inserting a synchro-pin having the corresponding tapered stage part into a hole having the tapered opening port on a reverse shift fork and installing a frictional member onto the pressing surface of the synchro-pin, in a manual transmission for automobile. CONSTITUTION:A rod 9 is moved rightward by the reverse shift operation, and a shift fork 10 allows a coupling sleeve 5 to mesh with the clutch gear 6 of a reverse main gear 3. In the initial stage, the tapered opening port 13 of a in hole 12 contacts the tapered stage part 15 of a synchro-pin 14, and a frictional member 18 at the top edge is pressed onto the side surface of the gear 3, and the revolution of the gear 3 which inertia-revolves is suspended by the brake action, and at the same time, the tapered opened port 13 gets over the tapered stage part 15, and the fork 10 shifts to the gear 3 side, and reverse shift is completed. Therefore, the reverse shift can be carried out without generating a squeak.
