PURPOSE:To improve lightfastness of images and ground, by incorporating a specified fluoran compound as a color former. CONSTITUTION:A recording material comprises as a color former a fluoran compound of general formula (1), wherein R<1> is methyl or ethyl, and R<2> is pentyl, methoxyl, propyl or ethoxypropyl. The fluoran compound can be obtained as a substantially colorless solid by bringing an m-aminophenol derivative and phthalic anhydride into reaction to synthesize a 2-(4-amino-2-hydroxy) benzoylbenzoic acid derivative, and condensing the benzoylbenzoic acid derivative with a diphenolamine derivative by using sulfuric acid, polyphosphoric acid, zinc chloride, acetic anhydride or the like as a dehydration condensing agent. The recording material using the compound of general formula (1) is excellent in lightfastness of developed color images and ground. |
