The invention relates to a mobile tripod device for a film camera, in particular for travelling up and down stairs, with a rail arrangement and a camera dolly which can be moved on the rail arrangement and has a holding device for the film camera. The rail arrangement comprises profile bars which do not have cross-ties and can be placed freely in any desired track width. The camera dolly is provided with castors which partly engage over the profile bars and are fixedly connected to a frame which presets the desired track width. As the camera dolly moves along the rail arrangement the profile bars are adjusted to the desired track width by the wheels.
