The invention relates to an apparatus for the restoration or sanitation of waters, such as lakes, ponds or the like, having a depth of more than 5m, comprising an inner tube which ends at a distance above the water bottom and can be impinged by oxygen or air in this region via a nozzle and comprising an outer tube which encloses the inner tube at a distance, is flow connected to the inner tube and has a bottom outlet orifice. In order to prolong significantly the contact time between water and oxygen or air, and thus to significantly improve the aeration, the inner tube (9) extends to just beneath the water surface (10) and the outer tube (11) extends from the upper region of the hypolimnion or just beneath the thermocline (15) to the vicinity of the water surface (10). <IMAGE>
