An intermittently rotating drum (5) has its periphery provided with suction means (10) for holding a strip shaped handle material (1) supplied from a reel and for moving the material past a cutter (6) to cut predetermined lengths of material to from handle members (2) to a position where the handle members are adhesively applied by applicator members (9) to an article (A) such as a milk or juice container to form a handle. Sucking the material to the drum, cutting the material and applying the handle member to the article can be carried out simultaneously at the different portions of the drum, thus obtaining high operating speed. |
