A blocking and relief unit for a supply line, which is subject to internal overpressure in operation, for a supply medium, having a flow channel and having a relief device for possible connection of that part of the supply line which is downstream to a region which is free of overpressure, in the case of which, in the normal state, the free flow cross-section of the flow channel is not constricted and, in the emergency state, the flow cross-section for that part of the supply line which is located downstream is opened by the relief device towards the region which is free of overpressure, operates with optimum reliability, especially in the case of a power failure as well, and, in addition, is of simple construction and can thus be produced cost-effectively in that a first housing part (which is permanently connected to that part of the supply line which is located downstream) and a second housing part (which is permanently connected to that part of the supply line which is located upstream) are provided, in that the first housing part (or the second housing part) has an electromagnet and the second housing part (or the first housing part) has a holding region which is allocated to electromagnets, and in that, in the normal state, current flows through the electromagnet and the two housing parts are coupled to one another by means of the magnetic force of the electromagnet, while in contrast, in the emergency state, no current flows through the electromagnet and the second housing part [lacuna] from the first housing part by the internal overpressure in the supply line ...
