The invention relates to a setting aid for body hoods, especially for engine bonnets, by means of which the closing force of the body hoods can be set independently of their height setting flush with the surface. Specifically, the closing force is influenced by means of a height setting of the bonnet lock. So that the closing force or keeping-shut force can be set quickly, without trial and error, in one operation, there is proposed a hat-shaped supporting body which can be slipped over the stop buffer responsible for the height position of the body hood. The supporting body is open at the top and has a supporting collar which resembles a knife edge in cross-section and which bears against the convex cap of the peg-like stop buffer projecting from its base, in such a way that the top side of the supporting body is approximately flush with the heighest elevation of the cap. An annular or sleeve-shaped force-measuring device in the form of a load cell of the ring type or in the form of a helical compression spring is supported on the brim-like supporting flange of the supporting body. Instead, the hat-shaped supporting body itself can be designed as a load cell, but in this case the force is introduced into the supporting flange via a sleeve-shaped thrust piece. The closing-force setting aid according to the invention allows a measurement of the bearing force, with the hood closed, without a distance-increasing construction ... between the stop buffer and hood-side bearing face ...
