PURPOSE:To reduce the production cost and to facilitate design by providing one light source on the side part of a light transmission body and interposing a light-transmissive and rotatable cylinder member between this light source and the light transmission body and attaching plural color filters to the surface of the cylinder member. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from a light source 11 is projected to a green filter 12 through a cylinder member 15, and the green light transmitted through the filter 12 is reflected on a slope 10a of a light transmission body 10 and is projected to an LCD 8 through a diffusing plate 9, and the LCD 8 is irradiated with backlight. Similarly, the LCD 8 is irradiated with red backlight when a red filter 13 is placed in the side part of the light transmission body 10. The light-transmissive and rotatable cylinder member 15 is interposed between the light source 11 and the light transmission body 10 and plural color filters 12-14 are attached to the surface of the cylinder member 15 to secure a good irradiation quality. Thus, the cost is reduced and design is facilitated.
