Cleaning contaminated soils

An increasing amount of environmentally harmful residues and waste materials have brought about an increased requirement for special waste landfills in recent years. Recycling processes are therefore increasingly gaining importance. This applies in particular to soils which are contaminated with pollutants as a result of accidents, negligent handling or the like. With the process according to the invention, such contaminated soils can be dried, freed from pollutants at temperatures of 1200@C in a rotary furnace and then be reincorporated into the ground in the cleaned state. The exhaust gas from this combustion process exclusively comprises incombustible substances which can be separated off in a conventional gas scrubber.
