The shelf system has a plurality of shelves (1) having in each case a frame (2) and posts which carry the shelves and consist of post pieces (3) which can be detachably fitted together at the shelves in the post longitudinal direction. The post pieces (3), which butt directly against one another at their end faces, are positively engaged with one another via push-in pegs (5), provided at their joint face (4), and peg receptacles (6), and form, from transverse grooves (7), a transverse slot which is open to the joint face and positively receives the frame (2) in the direction of its thickness and height. As a result, the post pieces (3) stabilise the corner connections of the frames (2) when the transverse slots receive the corner regions of the frames (2) and for this purpose have, seen in plan view, a course in the post pieces (3) which corresponds to the frame corner. <IMAGE>
