In known rack or lantern racks, the joining points of the length portions bridging the channel sections perform the function of connecting the channel sections. They engage by means of extensions into recesses of the length portions which are connected to the channel sections, and are retained vertically by means of round irons located on the extensions. What is proposed is to provide the length portion (3a) bridging the joining point with a pocket (7) which exits only in its bottom surface and in its rear side and which receives the holding elements (6) for the connecting member (5) of mutually adjacent channel sections or roadway portions. By means of end extension (8) or recesses (9) serving for receiving such an extension (8), the length portion (3a) bridging the joining point engages into recesses or extensions of the length portions (3b) surrounding it. This design allows the preassembly of the channel section, machine roadway (2) and rack (3) above ground to form transportable units and a rapid assembly and completion of the rack (3) by means of the bridging length portions (3a) underground. <IMAGE>
