A heat exchanger is described which has a tube plate and a water box made of plastic. In the tube plate, connection pieces for the heat exchanger tubes are provided, the connection pieces extending transversely with respect to the plane of the tube plate and on both sides of the tube plate. The water box is arranged completely above the connection pieces and the tube plate.
