PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of a drill by stopping also a main shaft motor rotating the drill, and others, when extraordinary vibrations exceeding a prescribed value are detected by a sensor. CONSTITUTION:A drill 7 supported by intermediate supporting bodies 9 causes extraordinary vibrations according to the shape, size, quality and weight of a material 10 to be machined, when an extraordinary phenomenon occurs in the course of boring. These extraordinary vibrations are detected by a sensor through the supporting bodies 9, electric signals are transmitted therefrom to an operating panel 22, and thereby a main shaft motor 6 and a feed motor 4 are stopped. Accordingly, the breakage of the drill and the consequent occurrence of inferior machined goods are prevented.
