<p>The invention relates to detection by means of a sensing element whose light transmission coefficient varies abruptly for a particular value of this physical parameter. The device comprises, for example, a pulsed light source (10, 12) connected via an optical fibre (14) to a reference element (16) and to the sensing element (18) which are mounted in series and means (26) for measuring the light flux transmitted back to the optical fibre (14) via a Y coupler (24). The invention is applicable in particular to the measurement of a temperature corresponding to the transition temperature of a liquid crystal between its nematic and isotropic phases or at the temperature of the melting point of a paraffin. <IMAGE></p> |
