A suction tube (14) is connected to and communicating with a forceps channel (11) in which a medical tool is inserted, and a suction device (15) is in turn connected to and communicating with the suction tube. Pressure inside the suction tube is detected by a pressure detecting device (16), and the detected pressure is indicated on a display (23). A suction control device (25) controls operation of the suction device by operating based upon an output signal from a pressure setting device (22) for setting a maximum value for the body cavity pressure and an output signal from the pressure detecting device (26).
