PURPOSE:To realize miniaturization and simplification of a device and to perform auxiliary ionization uniformly in a discharge space, by disposing a number of hot-cathode seal-off type X-ray tubes which are disposed at prescribed intervals in the longitudinal direction of main electrodes to auxiliarily ionize a discharge space ahead of starting main discharge made by the main electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A pair of main electrodes 2 and 3 are disposed facing separately to each other in a discharge space 1a, and a number of hot cathode seal-off type X-ray tubes 21 to auxiliarily ionize the discharge space 1a ahead of starting main discharge made by the main electrodes 2 and 3 are disposed at prescribed intervals in the longitudinal direction of the main electrodes 2 and 3. For example, said X-ray tube 21 is formed by disposing a target 23 and a filament 24 in a glass tube 22 so that electrons generated by heating the filament 24 are reflected on the target 23 to become incident to the inside of the discharge space 1a through a transmission window 4 which is formed in a case 1. Accordingly, a vacuum state of the X-ray tube 21 need not be maintained by an evacuating device, and so this gas laser device can be miniaturized and simplified in its structure. |
