PURPOSE:To execute the control easily by a method wherein a light output of each laser from a semiconductor laser array, where more than one semiconductor laser is arranged in a unidimensional or two-dimensional shape, is detected in a time-staring way by using one photodetector which is installed immediately behind the laser and a control circuit, which can keep each light output constant, is used. CONSTITUTION:At a semiconductor laser array where semiconductor lasers 11-1n are arranged to be adjacent to each other in a unidimensional or two-dimensional shape, a single photodetector 2 which detects a light output from more than one laser light source is installed near a radiating exit on one side of the laser light sources. The light output from all the laser light sources are detected by using this photodetector 2 in a time-sharing way and independently within a specific discrete time. Each laser output of the laser array is fed back and controlled by using a detected output in such a way that the output can be kept at a prescribed constant value until the next detection. By this setup, it is possible to stabilize the output of each semiconductor laser.
