PURPOSE:To produce a strip having excellent surface characteristic under high productivity by sending noncombustible paper into bottom face of fixed weir at back end part and/or side faces of side weirs of a pouring basin, to cut off from molten metal, and relaxing cooling condition of the molten metal at these places. CONSTITUTION:The molten basin part 4 is formed on a belt 1 stretched between pulleys 2a, 2b by the fixed wall 6 and the side weirs 5. At the time of pouring the molten metal 8 into the pouring basin part 4 from the pouring device 7, the molten metal 8 is cooled and solidified by a cooling device arranged below the belt 1 to develop solidified shell 10 and grow into the strip 11 together with moving of the belt 1 and carry out. Then, the noncombustible paper 15 is sent to the pouring basin part 4 between the bottom face of the fixed weir 6 and the surface of belt 1, and toward the inner wall face of the side weirs 5. Therefore, the cooling condition of the molten metal in the pouring basin part 4 is relaxed and the surface defect on the strip 11 carried out, caused by cold shut is eliminated and the projection developed at both side part of the strip 11 is reduced. |
