PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition capable of suppressing the pH drop of products, generation of formalin, etc., and odor deterioration, for use in cosmetics, medicines and foods, comprising a carboxylic acid metal salt and/or oxycarboxylic acid metal salt. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) a carboxylic acid metal salt (pref. a metal salt of acetic acid, oxalic acid, malonic acid, succinic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid, glutaric acid, levulinic acid, adipic acid, pimelic acid, suberic acid, azelaic acid or sebacic acid) and/or (B) an oxycarboxylic acid metal salt (pref. a metal salt of lactic acid, malic acid, citric acid or tartaric acid). The metal salts are pref. Na, K, Li, Zn or Mg ones.
