PURPOSE:To scatter mist far away and prevent a water pan from freezing by a method wherein an atomizer with an ultrasonic oscillator is installed under an outdoor side discharge port and water recovered in the water pan is atomized in accordance with the height of a water level and water temp. CONSTITUTION:At the time of space cooling, dew condensed on the surface of an indoor heat exchanger is stored in a water pan 15 installed under an outdoor heat exchanger 13 through a dew pan. This recovered water 20 is likely to freeze at the time of space heating operation, and hence when the temp. of the water is detected to be 0 deg.C or less by a water temp. detector 24, the oscillating frequency of an ultrasonic oscillator 22 is increased to utilize an atomizer 18 as a heating element and to prevent freezing. The water level of the water 20 in the pan 15 rises gradually; when the level reaches a detecting means 21 for the height of the water level, the oscillator 22 of the atomizer 18 is oscillated at a fixed frequency to atomize mist A from an atomizing port 23 and the mist is scattered far away by the air blown off from a diffuser 17 through the exchanger 13. |
