An arcade type basketball game (10) comprising a framework (16) and basket (12) and a gate for controlling access to the balls (22). The gate (22) is mounted to a shooting window (56) having an opening (54) for passage of the balls. A gate bar (50) is moveable to a position blocking the opening (54) and is coupled with a pair of solenoids (58) with vertically extendable and retractable plungers (59). Rigid upper and lower return boards (24,26) are forwardly inclined for returning the balls more quickly to the player by reducing the vertical component of the ball movement. Netting (67) and vinyl (68) coupled with the framework (16) prevent the balls from bouncing away. |
