PURPOSE:To make it possible to print an overlay and a text in accurate positions by separately specifying the printing formats of the text and the overlay and executing the check of a logic page length. CONSTITUTION:The overlay form control buffer 108 for overlay printing data is provided separately with the text form control buffer 106 for text printing data and moreover a form overlay sequence control buffer 114 specifying the kind of the overlay and the number of pieces of quotations is provided. Based on the data from the form control buffer 106 and the form overlay control buffer 108, a check means 115 checks whether or not specified logic page lengths of the text and the overlay are proper. Thus, the text and the overlay can be properly printed in the accurate positions.
