PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer toner sharp in particle size distribution and good in developability characteristics at a good yield by using a hardly water-soluble inorganic fine powder in a dispersion medium and a polar substance in a monomer composition, setting a specified surface tension between the composition and the dispersion medium, and dispersing them into granules in a liquid dispersion system. CONSTITUTION:The monomer composition containing the polymerizable monomer, the polar substance, and a colorant is polymerized in the dispersion medium containing the inorganic dispersant powder soluble in Bronsted acid and hardly soluble in water, and substantially no water-soluble surfactant, and in this case, the process is composed of a preliminary dispersion step, a step of pressurizing it to >=10kg/cm<2>, a granulation step, and a polymerization step, and expression 1 shown on the right is satisfied, where A is the surface tension between the monomer composition except the colorant and the dispersion medium, and B is that between the monomer composition except the colorant, and the ion- exchanged water, thus permitting a toner sharp in the particle size distribution and superior in developability characteristics to be formed. |
