Process for elimination of wastes contg. petroleum comprises: (1) intensively mixing, in a proportion of at least 3:1 by wt., solid communal wastes of apparent density 300-500 kg/cu, m. contg. at least 20 wt.% of organic substances, with the oil-contg. wastes, e.g. from petroleum or the by-prods. of its processing, so that the content of the petroleum-contg. mixt. is a max. of 5 wt.%; (2) depositing the mixt. from (1) (in caissons) on the usual dump for communal wastes, covered with earth; and possibly (3) recovering the gas formed by biological digestion.
