PURPOSE:To intuitively grasp the image of a registered character by providing an image registering means for registering the image of a character or the like at the time of registering the feature information of the character or the like of a hand writer. CONSTITUTION:A feature extracting part 5 extracts the feature information such as the number of the strokes, the coordinate, the outline of the end points of the respective strokes from the hand written coordinate of an inputted pen and the up down information of the pen and feeds to a character discriminating part 6. A character registering part 7 extracts the feature information from the hand written information of the input pen 2 similarly to the feature extracting part 5, forms the image of the input character or the like and registers to a dictionary part 8 together with the feature information. Thereby, which character pattern is registered can be easily recognized.
