PURPOSE:To practically and easily use the titled dictionary by inputting an English word which is to be optically translated from an optical read part, and translating a having deformed language. CONSTITUTION:The optical read part 5 inputs the word to be translated which is mentioned in an original 14. A translation part 6 discriminates the deformed state of the language to be translated based on a read result and outputs a translated language corresponding to the deformed state from the discriminated result, and a display part 7 displays the translated language from the translation part 6. Consequently, input errors due to a keyboard input can be reduced, and the translated language can be obtained in accordance with the deformation even if the language to be translated is deformed. Thus, the electronic dictionary with superior operability and with utility can be obtained.
