PURPOSE:To always take out a superior reproducing video signal, by taking out the reproducing video signal via a picture memory, discriminating the pattern of tracking correction from the travel speed of a recording medium, and controlling the picture memory according to the pattern. CONSTITUTION:A movable reproducing head 2 capable of performing the tracking correction is provided, and the reproducing video signal from the reproducing head is taken out via the picture memory 13, and also, the control pattern of inter-track travel at the time of performing the tracking correction is discriminated (a jump judging logic 21) from the travel speed of the recording medium arranged oppositely to the reproducing head, and the tracking correction (a jump voltage generation circuit 25) is performed according to the pattern, and simultaneously, the write of the picture memory is stopped (a freeze signal generation circuit 26, a memory control circuit 27) in a reproducing video signal period having long distance of the inter-track travel according to the pattern, and the signal written at a preceding time is taken out repeatedly. In such a way, it is possible to always take out the superior reproducing video signal.
