<p>Preparation of 3-ketobutanol from acetone and formaldehyde. F5-. Using an aqueous solution of formaldehyde, opt. in presence of alkaline catalysts and under elevated temperature, reaction being carried out at 200-300 degrees C. This process gives good yields of 3-ketobutanol, and the reaction is rapid. 3-ketobutanol is an intermediate for the preparation of odorous substances.</p> |
