PURPOSE:To prevent occurrence of image slippage by automatically lifting a conveying section for an image transfer sheet which is conveyed to a fixing section through an image transferring section and a separating section, from a normal position in accordance with data indicating the size of the image transfer sheet. CONSTITUTION:An image transfer sheet which has been conveyed from an image transfer sheet conveying station 5 by a registering roller 6, comes to a transfer electrode 7 and a separating electrode 8, being guided by a guide plate 14, and a toner image formed on a photosensitive drum 1 is transferred onto the image transfer paper 1. The forward end of a guide plate 17 integrally incorporated with a conveying belt 9, near to a fixing section 11, is connected to the forward end part 14B of the guide plate 14 in the fixing section 11 so as to make it possible to convey the transfer sheet into the fixing section 11. When an image transfer sheet having a size which is shorter than the conveying path between the transfer electrode 7 and the fixing section 11 is used, a transfer sheet conveying section 18 is lifted from a position indicated by the solid line to a position indicated by the chain line, and therefore, it is possible to establish a conveying path therefor.
