PURPOSE:To improve the initial break-in of a steel shot to a workpiece as well as to raise the extent of fatigue strength in the workpiece, by performing peening with the steel shot with a specific film. CONSTITUTION:A workpiece is subjected to shot peening with a shot grain coating the surface of a steel shot with Pb. At this time, since this Pb is transferred to the workpiece, the steel shot and the workpiece themselves are not directly contacted so that wear and seizure of binding are reduced. Consequently the sticking load increases, initial break-in is raised and fatigue strength is excellent.
