PURPOSE:To produce vibrations when a ridge part between each notch groove and a stone outer circumferential part is hit to a grinding part of a workpiece, offset each other as well as to prevent any drop in accuracy of finishing of the workpiece, by forming plural notch groove in a stone layer at irregular intervals along the circumferential direction. CONSTITUTION:Plural notch grooves 13a-13h are formed in a stone layer 12 in a grindstone 10 at irregular intervals along the circumferential direction. In consequence, a ridgeline part between each of these notch grooves 13a-13h and an outer circumferential surface of the stone 1 is intermittently hit to a grinding part of a workpiece during operation with a different period each. Therefore, respective vibrations to be produced when this ridgeline part is hit to the grinding part of the workpiece offset each other. Accordingly, there no chattering vibration generated in the grindstone 10, so that any crack in the stone layer 12 and the workpiece attributable to this chattering vibration is obviated, thus accuracy of finishing in the workpiece will not drop.
