PURPOSE:To make it possible to surely inspect whether the end of a yarn which is continuous to a yarn layer on the a bobbin, is inserted into a predetermined position or not by detecting the yarn entering into the center hole of the bobbin during a step of inserting the yarn into the center hole of the bobbin. CONSTITUTION:In a forward station, a sucked yarn Y2 from a bobbin 2e whose top punch is released and sucked, is cut into a predetermined length by a cutter 18a, and is sucked into the center hole 15 of the bobbin from a yarn part Ya nearest to the top end opening side by a sucked air stream in the direction of the arrow 25 in the center hole 15. At this time, the yarn part Y2b is sucked into further and is suspended down (Y2c) while the free end part Y2 of the yarn passes through a yarn detecting groove 26 in a sensor 19 of a photoelectric or capacitive type or the like. During such suction and insertion if the yarn passes through the sensor 19 even at a moment, it is possible to surely detect the end of the yarn inserted into the center hole 15. Thus, it is possible to surely detect the end of a picked yarn.
