1,265,683. Ventilating vehicles. BAYERISCHE MOTOREN WERKE A.G. 20 June, 1969 [26 June, 1968], No. 31344/69. Heading F4V. To ensure that a vehicle windscreen, front side windows and upper part of rear window are quickly cleared of mist or ice, warm air (or in other circumstances cold air) enters the vehicle through two fan-shaped nozzles 5 and flows against the windscreen along the side windows, and underside of the roof to reach the upper part of the rear window. About two thirds of the air is exhausted via vents 7 and 8 the remainder recirculating towards the front of the vehicle. Vents 7 lead to a chamber 9 communicating with a duct in the hollow rear roof pillar to reach exit slits 12. There may be further vents in the hollow pillar leading to the slits 12. Vents 8 lead to a further chamber extending beneath the rear window and venting to atmosphere through a gap between a lid 16 and adjacent body panel. |
