Oils are dewaxed by a process comprising cooling followed by flotation in which the oil is cooled by mixing with a cold diluent, preferably at least 10 DEG C. cooler than the flotation process. The diluent may be a kerosine added in an amount sufficient to reduce the viscosity to below 20 centistokes. Preferably part of the dewaxed oil is cooled and recycled.
