CONSTITUTION:A position aligning jig 1 is fixed to the top of a steady rest jig 8 installed on the outside of a spindle 5, the end part 11 of a shaft to be machined is installed on a shaft 2, and its run is adjusted by means of a fixing pin 10 and a set screw 9. Then, by setting a machine head angle at beta deg., the beta deg.13 of the end part 11 of the shaft to be machined is ground and, then, the machine head angle is returned to 0 deg.. And, by installing a machining drill 6 on a chuck 4, the machining drill 6 is set in the direction of the beta deg. with a left hand finger and, by pressing them against each other and as the chuck 4 is clamped, highly accurate position alignment can be carried out.
