PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of the automatic assembly of a workpiece having a complicated shape by horizontally tilting a jig body to perform the positioning of a workpiece such as an exhaust manifold, etc., and, after vertically returning said jig body, carrying out assembly by means of a nut runner. CONSTITUTION:An assembling jig head 2 consists of a supporting frame 10, a tilting cylinder 11, flange part nut runners 50, stay part nut runners 70, a jig body 14, a clamp holding device 20 for a workpiece W, etc. To carry out the automatic assembly of a workpiece W, first, the jig body 14 of the assembling jig head 2 is horizontally rotated and the workpiece W is positioned and held by means of the jig body 14. Meantime, plural nut runners 50 provided on the supporting frame 106 of the assembling jig head 2 are fed with nuts or bolts by means of a nut feeding device 60. After that, the jig body 14 is tilted back vertically and the workpiece W is prepared for assembling and installed to an assembling object to be clamped and fixed by means of the nut runners 50.
