PURPOSE:To perform a stable feed of paper simplifying a mechanism, by driving a paper feed roller and a heading resist roller in two cassette ports and one hand insertion port in the automatic paper feed mechanism normally and reversely rotating two motors. CONSTITUTION:When paper is fed from a cassette 4, a motor M2 is rotated in a direction (b), and the paper is fed by rotating gears 15, 11 and a roller 6 being associated. If the paper is resisted by a resist roller 8, reversing the motor M2 in a direction (a) and actuating an idler 15 and a gear 13 to be associated, the paper is conveyed by rotating the resist roller 8 in a direction (h). The paper, when it is fed from a cassette 3, is fed by rotating a motor M1 in a direction (c) and a gear 10 and a roller 5. The paper, if it is resisted by a resist roller 7, is conveyed by a gear 12 and the roller 7 by reversing the M2 in the direction (a). The paper, if it is fed by hand, is resisted by the resist roller 7 by actuating the motor M1, gear 10, idler 15', roller 14 and a feed roller 9 to be associated. And reversing the M2 in the direction (a), the paper is conveyed by the gear 12 and the roller 7. In this way, the mechanism can be simplified.
