A parting-off tool comprises a body portion 20 with a recess 21, 22 at one end which receives a cutter support blade 30 on which a cutter element 40 and a back-up member 60 are supported, a clamping member 50 securable to the body by screw 54, the clamping regions 52 overlying the cutter and back-up member when in the clamping position. -The cutter element 40 has a head portion 42 and a shank portion 41 the clamp and back-up member engaging the shank portion to secure and locate the cutter in its operative position. The cutter element may be double-ended i.e. provided with a cutting head portion at each end and separate cutter inserts may be provided on the cutter shank. Various examples of suitable cutting elements are described with reference to Figs. 4-7 (not shown). |
