1,202,512. Testing permeability of sealed containers. G. H. LYSSY. Jan. 8, 1969 [July 30, 1968], No.1195/69. Heading G1S. A sealed container 24 is tested for water vapour permeability by first placing it in a heat insulated chamber 8 having temperature controlled liquid 25 circulating between its double walls, and then blowing dry air from a pump 16 and dryer 15 through a valve 14 past the container and out through a valve 26 so that any water vapour leaking out of the container after the valves are shut is detected by a humidity sensor 2 and electrodes 3. The sensor emits a signal at a pre-set low humidity which is amplified and sent to a timer 19. When the signal increases to an upper limit the number of impulses received during the interval between lower and upper limits is shown on a counter 20 and indicates a measure of the permeability of the container. |
