PURPOSE:To reduce a waste of time by executing an error correction during the time in which a bit of information is not read out. CONSTITUTION:When an optical card 1 is inserted into a reproducing device 20 to a particular position, its recorded information is then in turn read out. When the optical card 1 is detected by a photointerrupter PRB, the readout action is stopped and its moving direction is reversed to move in the opposite direction. The information read out at this moving time is inputted into an error corrector existing in a controller in the reproducing device 20, where the error correction is carried out. The corrected readout information is then inputted again into the controller and hence outputted as the corrected data.
