PURPOSE:To obtain a tunnel erasing type magnetic head appropriate for narrow track formation by regulating the track width of a recording/reproducing gap and an erasing gap and their relative positions by three grooves formed on a magnetic recording medium sliding face. CONSTITUTION:Cores 4, 5 and cores 5, 6 respectively constitute a recording/ reproducing core and a erasing core and these cores are unitedly deposited and joined with glass 9 to form a head core 10. A recording/reproducing gap 1 and erasing gaps 2, 3 are formed on the recording medium sliding face 11 of the core 10 as follows. Namely, V-shaped glass grooves 7, 7' and a glass groove 8 entered into the grooves 7, 7' and extended in the sliding direction are formed and the gaps 1-3 are regulated by these grooves 7, 7', 8, so that the relative positions and the width of the gaps can be accurately determined. Consequently, the magnetic head appropriate for narrow track formation can be obtained.
